» Week 1: Attack of the blisters ¦ What You Can Get Away With

So, I’m all set and ready to hop on a train tomorrow morning and here’s where I’m going to be for the next week or so:

Sunday 23rd: Train from Birmingham to Inverness, complete with 45 minutes in Edinburgh.
Monday 24th: Train from Inverness to Wick, bus from Wick to Canisbay/John O’ Groats and an evening stroll down to Duncansby Head, just so I don’t have to do it in the morning.
Tuesday 25th: Walking from John O’ Groats to Wick
Wednesday 26th: Walking from Wick to Dunbeath
Thursday 27th: Walking from Dunbeath to Helmsdale
I’m planning on basing myself in Helmsdale for a few days, and using the train to shuttle back and forth from the starts and finishes, thus meaning I don’t have to carry a full pack with me for the next couple of days:
Friday 28th: Helmsdale to Golspie
Saturday 29th: Golspie to Tain
Sunday 30th: Rest day in Helmsdale
Monday 31st: Tain to Avoch, Black Isle via the King’s Route and the Cromarty Ferry

I should be able to update again before the end of that, but the general plan for the week after that is to get to Inverness and then head down the Great Glen Way to Fort William, ready to start on the West Highland Way.

And for anyone wanting to contact me on the way, the email address I’m most likely to check is nick.barlow(at)gmail.com and should you want to call me, my mobile number is oh798one eight96three7five (I have no idea if there are mobile-number gathering spambots, but it’s better to be safe than sorry, right?)

Remember, of course, that you can donate at any time.
