Just had a couple of easy days of about 10 or so miles each – yesterday from Bridge of Orchy to Crianlarich, then today from Crianlarich down to Ardlui – and tomorrow will be about the same from Ardlui to Rowardennan, though the path along Loch Lomond is quite tricky in parts so it’s not just an easy amble there. Still, the sights are more interesting than walking 20+ miles along a road.
Anyway, my plans for next week are a bit vague – on Monday, I’m going from Rowardennan to Drymen, then I’ll be going along the canal paths between Drymen and Linlithgow during the week, aiming to get to Linlithgow by Thursday at the latest, then a couple of days off in Edinburgh for my birthday. For those of you in or around Edinburgh wanting to meet up at some point while I’m there, I’ll definitely be at my friend Rob’s gigs at the Laughing Horse at Jekyll and Hyde on Saturday 19th, so you’ll be able to find me there, and for those of you wanting to come on a walk with me, I’ll be walking from Linlithgow into Edinburgh on Sunday 20th. I can’t check train times right now as I can only have one window open at a time, but the plan will be to start in Edinburgh in the morning, get the train to Linlithgow and then walk back into the city from there – about 20 miles in total, but all flat, so pretty easy. There are train stations and bus stops along the way, so you’ll be able to bail out early if you want to.
Anyway, I’ll try and post more details when I have them, but I’m not sure when I’ll be able to get internet access again in the next few days (and Ben’s away on holiday) so figured I’d update as much as I could now.
